FDA Responds to Conference for Food Protection Recommendations

September 21, 2023

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has responded to the Conference for Food Protection’s (CFP) recommendations from the 2023 CFP Biennial Meeting, which was held in Houston, TX this past April. The FDA’s response letter communicates the agency’s current position on CFP’s most recent recommendations to amend the FDA Food Code, including its Annexes, the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards and the recommendations that otherwise recommend action on the part of the FDA.

The Conference for Food Protection is a non-profit organization that was created to provide a formal process that members of industry, regulatory, academia, consumer, and professional organizations can use to provide input in the development and/or modification of food safety guidance for food safety laws and regulations at all levels of U.S. government.

The FDA appreciates the efforts of all the participants of the 2023 CFP Biennial Meeting to develop recommendations intended to further food safety and foster cooperation between federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal agencies, consumers, and our partners in industry, and academia.
